High in the foothills of Nepal's Annapurna region sits Poon Hill.

At 3,210 metres, it isn't the highest mountain. It isn't technically difficult. And you don't need to be an elite mountaineer to get there.

But you do have to make the climb.

It takes time, effort, patience and sometimes a little courage. The path can be steep. You don't always know what the view will look like when you arrive.

And then you get there.

From Poon Hill, the landscape opens up. You can see across the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and, perhaps more importantly, see the journey you've just made from an entirely different perspective.

That's what good learning, evaluation and research can do.

We believe everyone should be able to get to their own Poon Hill.

You don't need to become an evaluation expert. You don't always need a major research programme. Sometimes you need enough time, space, curiosity and support to step above the day-to-day, look across your work, notice what is changing, understand why, and decide where to go next.

That's embedded evaluative thinking: developing the confidence and capability to ask good questions, gather useful evidence, make sense of experience and actually use what you learn.

For some, Poon Hill is exactly far enough.

Others will want to keep climbing.

Research and evaluation can take us further and deeper. That's where experienced guides matter. Poon Hill brings together people who know this terrain — researchers, evaluators, learning designers and facilitators who can walk alongside you, help navigate difficult sections, carry some of the technical load and know when a different route might be needed.

Sometimes we'll guide you and you'll do the climbing.

Sometimes we'll travel together.

And sometimes you can hand us the technical expedition and we'll do it for you.

The destination isn't evaluation for evaluation's sake.

It's getting to a place where you can see more clearly — and know what to do with what you see.
